In a remarkable display of cultural heritage and discipline, a 21-member team of Scouts and Guides from Sirsa district has secured the second position at the prestigious Bharat Scouts and Guides National Integration Camp held in Karnataka. The team, comprising students from the Government Senior Secondary School, Gudiakhera, impressed judges and audiences alike with their vibrant representation of Haryanvi traditions during the five-day event held from January 22 to 26.
The Sirsa contingent, which represented the entire state of Haryana, was led by District Contingent Leader Anand Prakash Kargwal, along with Scout Master Mukesh Sharma, Dulichand, Guide Captain Vimal Devi, and Kumari Dimple. The team included seven scouts—Prince, Puneet, Kusum, Ankush, Akshay, Rohit, and Amandeep—and nine guides, namely Chetna, Sarita, Anu, Savita, Khushbu, Parul, Lalita, Priyanka, and Priyanka Rani. Their performance stood out among participants from across the country, earning them the runner-up trophy, which was received by Ajay Singh Bhati on behalf of the team.
The students captivated the gathering with a comprehensive showcase of Haryanvi culture. Their presentation included a depiction of traditional wedding rituals, a “food plaza” featuring the state’s famous milk and curd-based delicacies, and energetic folk dances. The team also celebrated regional festivals like Teej, bringing the festive spirit of Haryana to the southern state. On the final night, during the campfire programme, the students performed Haryanvi folk music and dance, which received wide appreciation from the audience.
Upon their return, the team was congratulated by District Education Officer Sunita Sai, Block Education Officer Satbir Singh, and School Principal Umed Singh Dhaka. Officials praised the students and the accompanying teachers for their dedication and for bringing laurels to the district on a national platform.
