Jan 10, 2026 | Haryana

A new sewing and tailoring training centre was inaugurated in Yamunanagar today. The facility, established under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, is designed to provide vocational training and self-employment opportunities to women from underprivileged backgrounds in the district.

The Project Details The centre has been equipped with modern sewing machines and professional instructors to provide comprehensive training.

  • Objective: The primary goal is to empower local women by equipping them with marketable skills, allowing them to earn a sustainable livelihood from their homes or by joining the local garment industry.

  • Course Structure: The centre will offer both basic and advanced courses in stitching, tailoring, and embroidery. Upon completion of the training, participants will receive certificates that can assist them in securing loans or employment.

  • Support: Beyond training, the CSR partner has pledged to help the trainees establish market linkages to sell their finished products.

Inauguration Ceremony The inauguration was attended by local administrative officials and representatives from the funding corporation. During the event, speakers highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in driving rural and semi-urban development. They emphasized that such skill-based centres play a crucial role in making women “Atmanirbhar” (self-reliant).

Local residents have welcomed the initiative, noting that it saves women the trouble of traveling long distances to the city for similar vocational courses. The first batch of trainees has already been enrolled and is set to begin classes this week.
