Newly Launched Haryana Roadways App Crashes

A major digital initiative of the Haryana Transport Department hit a roadblock today as the recently launched mobile application for Haryana Roadways went offline. The technical glitch, attributed to insufficient server capacity, caused significant inconvenience to the state’s vast network of commuters.

  • The System Failure: Early in the morning, users began reporting that the app was stuck on the loading screen or displaying “Server Busy” messages. By mid-day, the app had completely stopped functioning for a majority of users.

  • Commuter Woes: The crash was particularly impactful because many passengers had started relying on the app to track the live location of Ordinary and Sarathi (Volvo) buses. “I waited at the stand for 30 minutes because the app showed a bus was nearby, but after it crashed, I had no way of knowing if the bus had already passed or was delayed,” said a regular commuter in Ambala.

  • Booking Issues: Beyond tracking, the online booking portal for inter-state routes also faced disruptions. Passengers who had paid for tickets through the app complained about not receiving their digital e-tickets, leading to confusion during boarding.

  • Official Response: Technical teams from the Transport Department and the empanelled IT firm are reportedly working to upgrade the server bandwidth. Officials stated that the “unexpectedly high volume of traffic” on a Monday morning was the primary cause of the overload.
