In a swift display of investigative grit, the Panipat police have unraveled the “blind” murder of a woman whose body was found in the fields of Bhaupur village. Within 24 hours of the gruesome discovery, officials have arrested two men from Naultha village who have allegedly confessed to a harrowing sequence of events involving rape, strangulation, and an attempt to burn the evidence.

The Tragic Discovery & Identification The case began on Saturday when villagers stumbled upon the semi-clad body of an unknown woman in a secluded field. The investigation took its first major turn when a resident of the Old Industrial Area reached the mortuary and identified the deceased as his wife. Originally from Banka, Bihar, the woman had lived in Panipat for years with her husband and children. Her family revealed she was mentally upset and had wandered away from home on the evening of January 2.

The Chilling Confession Following a tip-off, a team led by DSP Satish Vats intercepted the suspects near the Panipat Railway Station. The arrested duo, identified as Anil (alias Angrej) and Jatin, both residents of Naultha, painted a dark picture of the night of the crime:

  • The Stalking: After drinking liquor near the Delhi Parallel Canal, the accused spotted the woman alone on Jatal Road.

  • The Abduction: They lured her onto their motorcycle and drove her to the deserted Bhaupur-Karad road.

  • The Assault: In the dark of the night, the two men took turns raping the defenseless woman.

  • The Murder: When she dared to oppose them, the situation turned fatal. The accused struck her with a brick before strangling her to death with her own saree.

  • The Cover-up: To hide their identity, they attempted to burn her body. When that failed, they dragged her corpse 25 meters deep into the fields before fleeing.

Legal Action The police have now added sections of rape to the existing murder case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “Our teams worked tirelessly to identify the ‘blind’ leads. Both accused will be produced in court today. We are also investigating if any other individuals were involved in this heinous act,” said DSP Satish Vats.
