Prime Minister Narendra Modi today pushed the button to digitally unlock 50 new gateways of knowledge for rural Haryana, emphasizing that “Digital India” is now taking deep roots in the villages of the state.

  • Project Overview: The 50 digital libraries inaugurated today are part of a larger plan to establish such facilities in every Gram Panchayat with a population of over 5,000. These libraries are not just rooms with books; they are high-tech hubs featuring fiber-optic connectivity, solar power backup, and dedicated workstations.

  • Empowering the Youth: During the virtual interaction, the PM noted that these libraries would serve as “competitive exam hubs.” “A child in a village in Kaithal or Rohtak should have the same access to study material as a student in Delhi or Mumbai. These digital libraries will ensure that talent is not limited by geography,” PM Modi stated.

  • Modern Amenities:

    • Hardware: Each library is equipped with 10–15 tablets and 5 desktop computers.

    • E-Content: Access to premium digital subscriptions for journals, newspapers, and NCERT textbooks.

    • Skill Development: The centers will also host evening classes for digital literacy and vocational training under the PM-Kushal Vikas Yojana.

  • Community Model: The Haryana government has partnered with local village panchayats to manage these libraries. The Panchayats will ensure the maintenance of the buildings, while the State IT Department will manage the digital infrastructure and software updates.
