To ensure robust security ahead of Republic Day, the Rewari Police have launched a special search operation aimed at identifying Rohingya and Bangladesh nationals living illegally in the district. The drive, carried out by joint teams of district police officials and SWAT personnel, focused on high-risk areas including slums, hotels, poultry farms, and construction sites.

Operation Details

  • Areas Covered: The teams conducted intensive checks in the jurisdictions of the Sadar and Model Town police stations on Tuesday.

  • Verification Process: Police personnel scanned various slum settlements and industrial pockets to verify the identity of migrant laborers. They checked documents such as Aadhaar cards and voter IDs to identify any outsiders staying without valid authorization.

  • Vehicle Checks: Along with residential verification, the police also inspected vehicles and interrogated suspicious persons found in these areas.

Official Statement Rewari Superintendent of Police (SP) Hemendra Kumar Meena confirmed the drive, stating that strict instructions have been issued to all Station House Officers (SHOs) to identify and deport illegal immigrants in accordance with government orders.

  • Warning to Landlords: The SP warned hotel owners, guest house managers, and landlords that strict legal action would be taken against them if they are found harbouring individuals without proper police verification and identification documents.

  • Public Appeal: The police have appealed to residents to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities to the local authorities.

Context The drive serves a dual purpose: ensuring the deportation of illegal foreign nationals and tightening the security grid in view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
