In a stringent verdict delivering justice to a minor victim, the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Salender Singh has sentenced a youth to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sodomising a nine-year-old boy. The court also imposed a heavy fine of ₹75,000 on the convict.

The case dates back to July 20, 2023, when the Bahu Akbarpur Police registered an FIR based on the complaint of the victim’s father.

The Incident: The accused, who was residing at his aunt’s house in the victim’s village, had reportedly been assaulting the child for over a year. The matter came to light on July 19, when the distressed child confided in his parents.

Threats: The victim revealed that the accused had threatened him with death to ensure his silence. The most recent assault prior to the complaint had occurred on June 10.

Charges: The police registered the case under Section 377 (Unnatural Offences) and Section 506 (Criminal Intimidation) of the IPC, along with Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
