Rohtak Varsity Expels 23 MBBS Students Over Exam Scam Involvement

In a decisive crackdown on academic malpractice, the Pt. BD Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak, has expelled 23 MBBS students belonging to a private medical college after their involvement in a high-profile examination scam was established. The expulsion orders were formally issued by Vice-Chancellor Dr. HK Aggarwal on Monday.

The university administration has taken a severe stance, cancelling all examinations taken by these students and barring them from readmission to the university or the college they attended. Dr. Aggarwal confirmed that the action followed a thorough investigation that exposed a deep-rooted nexus. “The investigation is still underway, and no individual found involved will be spared. We have already dismissed seven university employees and suspended six others,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.

The scam, which first came to light in January last year, involved the smuggling of answer sheets from the university’s secrecy branch during annual and supplementary exams. These sheets were reportedly taken out, re-attempted by the students or solvers to secure passing marks, and then surreptitiously returned to the official records. Investigations revealed that the syndicate charged between ₹3 lakh and ₹5 lakh per subject for these illicit services.

Forensic analysis played a crucial role in sealing the fate of the accused students. A university official disclosed that the answer sheets of 24 suspects were sent for forensic examination. “In several cases, discrepancies were found in the serial numbers of the sheets, while in others, the handwriting did not match the students’ official records. Some sheets even showed signs of earlier content being erased and rewritten,” the official explained. The students were expelled after their responses to show-cause notices were deemed unsatisfactory.
