OLDBURY, UK – A major police investigation has been launched by West Midlands Police in the UK after a young Sikh woman in her 20s was raped in a park in Oldbury in what is being treated as a racially aggravated assault. The attack occurred in broad daylight on Tuesday, September 9, shortly before 8:30 am. The Sikh woman rape Oldbury incident has sent shockwaves through the community.
The two attackers, both described as white men, reportedly made racial comments during the assault, telling the woman to “go back to your own country.” This has led to the assault being officially classified as a hate crime, sparking significant fear and anger among the local Sikh community. A community meeting was held at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Smethwick as concerns grew about the possibility of a wider issue.
Chief Superintendent Kim Madill of Sandwell Police said, “We fully understand the distress and fear this has caused. We are working tirelessly to identify and arrest those responsible. Forensic and CCTV enquiries are ongoing, and extra patrols have been deployed to reassure the public.”

Later on the same day, a second sexual assault was reported in nearby Kenrick Park, West Bromwich, around 12:15 pm. That incident is also under investigation, though police have not yet confirmed if the two attacks are connected. West Midlands Police have urged anyone with information to contact them immediately. The community is hoping for swift justice and an end to the fear caused by these events.
