Affordable Homes: Housing Board Approves New Projects for EWS Families in Haryana

Jul 19, 2025 | Haryana

In a major relief for lower-income families aspiring to own a home in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Housing Board Haryana (HBH) approved several new affordable housing projects on July 19, 2025. The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting aimed at accelerating the state’s “Housing for All” commitment.

🏗️ Focus on Key Urban Hubs

The Board has greenlit the construction of multi-storey housing units specifically designed for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. The newly approved projects will be located in prime, high-demand cities including:

  • Gurugram: New units planned for sectors near the Dwarka Expressway (e.g., Sector 92/95) to ensure connectivity.

  • Faridabad: Projects approved for the developing sectors in Greater Faridabad.

  • Sonipat & Panchkula: Additional units sanctioned to meet the growing urban housing demand in these districts.

💰 Subsidized Rates and Transparency

Officials confirmed that these units would be allotted via a transparent lottery system to ensure fairness. The prices have been kept significantly subsidized compared to market rates, making them accessible to daily wage earners and industrial workers.

  • Financial Aid: Beneficiaries will also be eligible for interest subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

  • Amenities: Unlike older schemes, these new projects will feature improved amenities, including better sewerage systems, parks, and community centers, ensuring a dignified living environment.

The Housing Board has directed officials to expedite the tendering process so that construction can commence before the end of the year, targeting possession within 24 months.
