In a major boost to NCR’s infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway on August 17, 2025. This historic double-inauguration, involving projects worth nearly ₹11,000 crore, aims to drastically reduce traffic congestion between Haryana and the national capital.

🛣️ The Third Ring Road: UER-II UER-II, often referred to as Delhi’s “Third Ring Road,” is a 75.7 km access-controlled expressway.

  • Route: It starts at Alipur (NH-44) and connects to NH-9 and NH-48, with significant stretches passing through Rohini, Mundka, and Najafgarh.

  • Decongestion: The road will provide a seamless bypass for traffic coming from Chandigarh and Punjab towards IGI Airport and Jaipur, bypassing the heavily congested Inner and Outer Ring Roads.

  • Connectivity: New spurs will offer direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, cutting travel time from the Singhu Border to the airport to just 40 minutes.

🌉 Dwarka Expressway Completion The Prime Minister will also unveil the 10.1 km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, built at a cost of approximately ₹5,360 crore.

  • Integration: This section connects the already operational Haryana stretch to the UER-II and provides multi-modal connectivity to the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre and upcoming Bijwasan railway station.

  • Eco-Friendly: Notably, millions of tonnes of waste from the Bhalswa landfill were repurposed for the construction of these highways.

The event, to be held in Rohini, will see attendance from Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, marking a new era for commuting in the region.
