In a major move to transform public transport in southern Haryana, the state government has greenlit the final technical plan for the Ballabhgarh-Palwal Metro extension. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, marking a transition from the planning phase to the implementation stage.

  • Project Scope: The new corridor will be an extension of the Delhi Metro’s Violet Line (which currently terminates at Raja Nahar Singh Station in Ballabhgarh). The 24-km stretch will be entirely elevated and will run alongside the Delhi-Agra National Highway.

  • Proposed Stations: While the final names are being finalized, the DPR identifies 10 key locations, including industrial sectors such as Sector 58-59, Sikri, Softa, Prithla, Baghola, and Alhapur, ending at the Palwal Bus Stand.

  • Industrial & Economic Impact: The expansion is strategically aimed at the industrial belt. By connecting these manufacturing hubs directly to Delhi and Faridabad, the government expects a surge in new investments and a reduction in heavy vehicular traffic on the highways.

  • Funding and Execution: The project will be executed by the Haryana Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (HMRTC). The estimated cost of construction is roughly ₹180 crore per kilometer. The government aims to complete the project within the next three to four years.
