The late-night party scene in Gurugram’s Cyber Hub faced a major crackdown today as excise teams moved in to enforce strict licensing and timing regulations. The raid targeted a high-profile club known for its elite clientele and late-night operations.
-
The Violations: During the inspection, excise inspectors discovered that several bottles of expensive foreign liquor being served to customers did not have the mandatory Haryana Excise holograms. This indicates that the liquor was either smuggled or brought in from other states without paying the required local duties.
-
Overstaying the Limit: Despite the official deadline of midnight for bars with base licenses, the club was found fully operational and serving guests in the early hours of the morning. Under the current Haryana Excise Policy 2024-25, establishments must pay a heavy additional fee to stay open until 2:00 AM or beyond, which this club had reportedly bypassed.
-
Seizure and Fines: A significant quantity of non-duty-paid liquor was confiscated from the bar counter and storage rooms. The department is currently calculating the total fine, which is expected to run into lakhs of rupees based on the volume of illicit stock found.
-
Warning to Other Outlets: The Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner (DETC) stated that this is part of a larger drive to clean up the nightlife sector. “Clubs cannot be allowed to evade taxes or ignore safety and timing protocols. We are monitoring several other hotspots in Sector 29 and MG Road as well,” an official said.
