CM Nayab Saini Inaugurates 50 Smart Libraries for Village Students

Sep 18, 2025 | Haryana

In a move to democratize access to education, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today dedicated 50 digital libraries to the rural youth of Haryana. The project is part of a larger state initiative to establish a network of e-libraries in every gram panchayat.

  • High-Tech Facilities: Each library is equipped with ergonomic furniture, air-conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, and computer terminals. The digital infrastructure provides access to the e-Granthkosh portal, which houses thousands of academic journals, reference books, and video lectures.

  • Empowering Competitive Aspirants: A major focus of these libraries is the “Competitive Exam Corner.” Students can access free study material for major national and state-level exams. “Our children in villages have the talent but often lack the resources. These libraries will ensure that a farmer’s son or daughter can prepare for the IAS or HCS without leaving their village,” the CM stated during the virtual launch.

  • Community Management: The libraries are set up in existing government buildings or newly constructed panchayat halls. They will be managed by local village councils, with technical support from the Higher Education and Panchayat Departments.

  • Solar Integration: To ensure uninterrupted study hours despite rural power cuts, many of these libraries have been fitted with solar power backup systems, making them sustainable and eco-friendly.
