CM Saini Announces Dedicated Cyber Police Stations Across Haryana

Sep 21, 2025 | Haryana

Recognizing that “the next frontier of crime is digital,” the Haryana government has sanctioned the establishment of dedicated cyber police stations in all 22 districts of the state. The announcement comes at a time when Haryana has been ranked No. 1 in the country for its efficiency in blocking fraudulent transactions via the 1930 helpline.

  • Expanding the Network: Until now, residents in smaller districts often had to travel to regional headquarters or rely on general police stations that lacked specialized digital forensic equipment. With this mandate, each district will have its own unit staffed by IT experts and trained investigators.

  • National Recognition: The announcement coincided with the recognition of Haryana Police’s achievement on the national stage. DGP Shatrujeet Kapur highlighted that the state’s recovery rate of blocked cyber fraud funds surged from 8% in late 2023 to 36% in August 2024—the highest in India.

  • Specialized Infrastructure: These new stations will be equipped with:

    • Digital Forensic Labs: To trace IP addresses and recover deleted data.

    • Real-time Banking Coordination: Direct links with 11 major banks to “freeze” accounts within the “Golden Hour” of a fraud report.

    • Training Centers: To educate local businesses and citizens on safe digital practices.

  • Zero Tolerance for “Digital Arrests”: A primary focus of the new district units will be to combat the recent surge in “digital arrest” scams, where fraudsters pose as CBI or Customs officers. The government is also doubling the capacity of the 1930 Cyber Helpline, increasing the number of active terminals to handle up to 1,000 calls simultaneously.
