The Nuh Police today dismantled a sophisticated criminal network that had turned the popular OLX platform into a hunting ground for armed robbery. The bust follows a string of complaints from victims across Punjab, Rajasthan, and Delhi.
-
The Trap: The gang typically listed popular vehicles like Swift Dzire, Thar, or Mahindra Tractors at prices 40–50% below market value. “They would talk very professionally on the phone, often posing as army officers or government employees to build trust,” said a senior investigating officer.
-
The Ambush: Once the buyer reached a designated spot (often a highway petrol pump), gang members would meet them and lead them into interior village roads under the pretext of “showing the vehicle at home.” Once in a secluded area, other armed associates would surround the victim.
-
The Breakthrough: The Cyber Cell and CIA (Crime Investigation Agency) units tracked a series of digital footprints linked to a recent robbery where a Delhi businessman was duped of ₹3 lakh. Using advanced geolocation and call detail records (CDR), police zeroed in on a hideout in the Aravalli foothills.
-
The Arrests & Seizures:
-
Suspects: Police have taken four key members into custody (names withheld pending further raids).
-
Weapons: Two country-made pistols (katta) and live cartridges were seized.
-
Digital Evidence: 15 mobile phones and dozens of pre-activated SIM cards obtained using forged documents were recovered.

Police Warning: Nuh Superintendent of Police (SP) issued a stern advisory to the public: “Never travel to remote areas of Mewat for OLX deals. Always insist on meeting in a public place like a police station or a busy market. If a deal looks too good to be true, it is almost certainly a trap.”
Administrative Action: Police are now coordinating with the OLX Security Team to flag and remove suspicious accounts originating from specific towers in the Nuh district. This arrest is expected to solve at least a dozen pending robbery cases registered over the last six months.
