Oct 6, 2025 | Haryana

The state of Haryana has entered a festive mode today as the Valmiki community began their pre-Jayanti celebrations with grandeur. These Shobha Yatras serve as a prelude to the state-level programs scheduled for tomorrow.

  • District-Level Celebrations: Under the state government’s “Sant Mahapurush Samman” scheme, celebrations are being held in every district. In Yamunanagar, Haryana Assembly Speaker Kanwar Pal led a massive procession, while in Rewari, Deputy Speaker Santosh Yadav participated in local events.

  • The Processions: The yatras featured beautifully decorated chariots and “Jhalkis” (tableaux). Youth groups performed traditional Gatka and folk dances, while elders distributed Prasad along the route. Special focus was placed on the teachings of the Ramayana and Valmiki’s message of social equality.

  • Traffic Advisory for Tomorrow (Oct 7): * Diversions: Local police in Gurugram, Rohtak, and Ambala have announced that heavy vehicles will be diverted away from city centers between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM tomorrow.

    • Restricted Areas: Roads leading to major Valmiki temples and central chowks will be restricted for private cars to accommodate the main processions.

    • Parking: Dedicated parking zones have been identified on the outskirts of market areas to prevent gridlock.

  • Government Presence: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has extended his greetings to the people, highlighting that the state-level celebration in Jind tomorrow will see a massive gathering of devotees. Security has been beefed up at the Eklavya Stadium in Jind, the primary venue for the state function.

  • Public Holiday: Tomorrow, October 7, has been declared a gazetted holiday for all schools, colleges, and government offices in Haryana, allowing citizens to participate in the festivities.

Community Sentiment: Organizers have expressed gratitude for the administrative support provided this year. “The early Shobha Yatras help in spreading the message of Maharishi Valmiki to every household before the main day,” said a member of the Valmiki Sabha in Panipat.
