To celebrate the birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, Haryana celebrated National Mathematics Day with great enthusiasm today. The highlight of the day was a state-level ceremony where Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini honored the brightest mathematical minds of the state with the newly instituted “Ramanujan Awards.”

Inspiring Future Aryabhattas: During the ceremony, the CM presented awards to 22 students (one from each district) who excelled in the State Level Mathematics Olympiad and showcased exceptional problem-solving skills. The award included a citation, a trophy, and a cash prize of ₹21,000. “Mathematics is the language of the universe. By honoring these young minds, we are investing in the scientists and engineers of tomorrow,” the CM said.

School-Level Celebrations: Across Haryana, thousands of government and private schools organized special activities to make the subject more engaging. These included:

Math Fairs: Students created models and projects demonstrating mathematical concepts in daily life.

Sudoku & Rubik’s Cube Competitions: To sharpen logical thinking and speed.

Quizzes: Based on the life and contributions of Ramanujan and ancient Indian mathematicians.

Focus on STEM Education: The Education Minister, who was also present, announced that the state would set up “Math Labs” in every PM-SHRI school by the next academic session to help students overcome “Math Phobia” through practical learning.

Special Lecturers: Universities and colleges held seminars where professors discussed Ramanujan’s contributions to number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, encouraging students to take up higher research in pure mathematics.

CM’s Message to Youth: Recalling Ramanujan’s struggles and triumphs, the CM urged students to stay curious and persistent. He emphasized that the state government is committed to providing every resource to ensure that rural talent gets a global platform.
