Fatehabad: Woman Gets Life Term for Killing Husband

Jan 8, 2026 | Haryana

A local court in Fatehabad today sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for the cold-blooded murder of her husband, an incident that dates back to 2021. The Additional Sessions Judge, while delivering the verdict, termed the act as a “calculated betrayal of the marital bond” and imposed a significant fine on the convict.

The Crime (2021) The case pertains to the death of [Victim’s Name], a resident of [Village/Area] in Fatehabad.

  • The Discovery: The victim’s body was found under suspicious circumstances in his home. Initially, the woman claimed it was a natural death or a sudden medical emergency.

  • Forensic Breakthrough: However, the post-mortem report revealed signs of strangulation and internal injuries that did not align with a natural death.

  • The Investigation: During the police investigation, it was unraveled that the woman, with the help of an accomplice (who was also convicted), had planned the murder due to [Motive – e.g., domestic discord/illicit relationship].

The Court’s Observations The prosecution presented a strong case backed by scientific evidence and the testimony of neighbors.

  • Motive Proven: The court found that the evidence of an illicit relationship and the desire to inherit the victim’s property were the primary drivers behind the crime.

  • No Leniency: The defense’s plea for a shorter sentence based on the woman having minor children was rejected by the judge. The court noted that the gravity of killing a spouse in their sleep outweighs other considerations.

The Sentence

  • Imprisonment: Life term (Rigorous imprisonment).

  • Fine: A fine of ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 (depending on specific court orders) was imposed. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months of imprisonment.

  • Accomplice: The co-accused in the case has also been handed a similar life sentence for his direct involvement in the conspiracy and execution of the murder.

Police Statement The local police expressed satisfaction with the verdict, stating that it reinforces the public’s faith in the judicial system. “Our teams worked hard on the forensic aspects of this case. Today’s life sentence is a victory for the family of the deceased who had been waiting for justice for nearly five years,” said a senior official.
