Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has welcomed the Union Budget 2026-27, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, terming it a “historic and visionary document” that will act as a catalyst for the state’s industrial and agricultural growth. Speaking to the media on Sunday, the Chief Minister described the budget as “encouraging,” stating that it will open new doors of opportunity for the youth, farmers, and entrepreneurs of Haryana.
High on the CM’s list of accolades was the focus on infrastructure and technology. Saini highlighted that the ₹12.2 lakh crore capital expenditure allocation would significantly benefit fast-developing states like Haryana. He specifically pointed to the Delhi-Gurugram-Faridabad RRTS corridor and new investments in IMT Kharkhoda and Manesar as game-changers that will generate lakhs of jobs. “The emphasis on Semiconductor Mission 2.0 will directly boost Haryana’s electronics and automobile sectors, while the ₹10,000 crore initiative for biopharma will strengthen our healthcare ecosystem,” Saini noted.
The Chief Minister also applauded the budget’s attention to cultural heritage, referencing the inclusion of Rakhigarhi in the list of 15 archaeological sites to be developed as global tourist destinations. On the agricultural front, he praised the focus on crop diversification and the Digital Agriculture Mission, which he said would complement state initiatives like Mera Pani-Meri Virasat.
However, the opposition was quick to dismiss the budget. Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda termed it “disappointing,” arguing that it offered no concrete relief for inflation or unemployment. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala went a step further, calling it a “black budget” that left the common man “high and dry.” Despite the criticism, CM Saini maintained that with the “double-engine government,” Haryana is set to receive stable financial support, with its share in central taxes maintained at 41%.
