In a major boost to public healthcare infrastructure, the Civil Hospital, Rohtak, is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade with a budget of over ₹5 crore approved by the state government. The initiative aims to bring government medical facilities on par with private institutions, as per the directives of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sachin Gupta, who inspected the ongoing works on Saturday, detailed the allocation of funds. A significant portion, ₹2.15 crore, is being invested in installing a modern fire-fighting system to ensure patient safety. Additionally, ₹55 lakh has been earmarked for the renovation of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and ₹20.48 lakh will be spent on replacing faulty Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB) electrical equipment. The remaining funds are allocated for special repairs, beautification, and maintenance of the building.

During his inspection, DC Gupta directed officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Health Department to work in close coordination. He emphasized that tasks directly linked to patient care must be prioritized. “The ICU is the most critical unit of the hospital, and its renovation must be completed first,” Gupta stated. He also reviewed progress in private wards, operation theatres, the Mother and Child healthcare unit, and public toilets, instructing officials to improve both the quality and pace of execution.

The upgrade work, which has been underway for the past three months, is reportedly nearing completion. The administration asserts that once finished, the hospital will offer safer and more advanced healthcare services to the large number of patients visiting daily from across the district.
