NEW DELHI – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday launched a fresh round of criticism against former Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, alleging misuse of public funds by the AAP-led Punjab government.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla claimed in a video message that Kejriwal is being provided a “sheesh mahal with a 7-star facility” in Punjab under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s quota. This, Poonawalla argued, is happening despite Kejriwal neither being an elected MLA nor part of the Punjab government.
“People of Delhi removed Kejriwal from his ‘sheesh mahal’ in New Delhi but the sheesh mahal mindset has not gone. And a sheesh mahal, part 2, is being done in Punjab through the taxpayers’ money, under the Punjab chief minister’s quota because Kejriwal is the super CM of Punjab,” Poonawalla alleged, adding that the luxurious mansion is being provided “only for him at the cost of the Punjabi taxpayers.”
Allegations of Political Placement: Poonawalla further alleged that the AAP government in Punjab is using the state’s resources to benefit party loyalists from outside the state. He claimed that even AAP leaders who had lost elections in Delhi have been strategically “placed” in various boards and commissions in Punjab.
The BJP spokesperson argued that the Punjabi taxpayers’ money is being used to pay for the Aam Aadmi Party leaders of Delhi, which he described as the party’s “mindset.” Poonawalla also highlighted that the AAP government has allegedly failed to deliver on key election promises, such as providing money to the women of Punjab, while simultaneously providing a VVIP security convoy and a luxurious residence for Kejriwal.
There was no immediate response from the AAP or the Punjab government to the BJP’s allegations regarding the bungalow allotment and political placements
