Haryana Roadways to Increase Feeder Services to Key Railway Stations

Jul 7, 2025 | Haryana

In a significant move to enhance commuter convenience and connectivity across the state, the Haryana Roadways announced plans on July 7, 2025, to significantly increase its bus services connecting major district headquarters to key railway stations. This strategic initiative focuses on solving the long-standing problem of last-mile connectivity for railway passengers.

๐Ÿš‰ Bridging the Road-Rail Gap

The decision by the Department of State Transport (Haryana Roadways) comes as a direct response to the growing passenger traffic and the state’s increasing investment in railway infrastructure, including the ongoing development of 34 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and new projects like the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC).

The core objective of increasing the frequency and coverage of bus services is to create a seamless transit experience by ensuring:

  • Better Timed Services: Bus schedules will be synchronized more effectively with the arrival and departure timings of major trains at key junctions like Ambala Cantt, Gurugram, Hisar, Karnal, Rewari, and Rohtak.

  • Feeder Routes: New or augmented routes will serve as dedicated feeder services, directly linking district bus terminals and major town centers to the respective railway stations.

  • Rural Linkage: The enhanced services will be particularly beneficial for passengers traveling from rural and remote areas, allowing them easy and affordable access to the state’s main railway network.

This focus on multimodal integration aligns with the broader national vision of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, which emphasizes the efficient linkage of different transport modes (road, rail, etc.) to boost economic activity and reduce travel time.

๐ŸŒ Part of a Modernization Push

The increase in services is a facet of the Haryana Roadways’ larger plan for the modernization of its fleet and infrastructure, which includes the introduction of electric buses in the NCR and the construction of modernized bus terminals. By improving connectivity to railway stations, the government aims to increase the ridership of both its bus services and the stateโ€™s rail network, fostering a more efficient public transport ecosystem.
