A high-level security alert has been sounded across Bihar after a credible intelligence input suggested that three Pakistan-based terrorists from the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) have entered the state. Officials confirmed on Thursday that the suspects are believed to have crossed the border from Nepal into Bihar.
The Bihar Police immediately acted upon the intelligence, circulating the names and photographs of the three suspects—Hasnain Ali of Rawalpindi, Adil Hussain of Umerkot, and Mohammad Usman of Bahawalpur—to all district police units. It is suspected that the trio entered the state through the Araria district, which shares a long and porous border with Nepal.
State DGP Vinay Kumar confirmed the development, stating, “A general alert has been issued. All district police and specialised units have been directed to maintain extraordinary vigilance, step up patrolling, and launch intensive search operations to foil any attempt by anti-national elements.” While he did not provide further details on the intelligence report, sources close to the development confirmed that the input indicated the specific presence of all three terrorists within the state.
In light of the heightened threat perception, security measures have been significantly ramped up across Bihar. Sensitive installations, major religious sites, and popular tourist destinations are under increased surveillance. This includes prominent sites like the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, Vishwa Shanti Stupa in Rajgir, and the Takht Sri Harimandir Ji in Patna Sahib. Security has also been tightened at crucial transit points, including all airports and railway stations, to monitor and control any suspicious movements. The police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities as the manhunt for the suspects continues.
