EDMONTON, CANADA – A 55-year-old Indian-origin businessman, identified as Arvi Singh Sagoo, was fatally attacked in central Edmonton, Canada, after confronting a stranger who was urinating on his vehicle. The victim succumbed to his injuries five days after the incident.
The Edmonton Police Service confirmed that the attack took place on October 19, and Sagoo died on October 24.
Police have arrested Kyle Papin (40) and charged him with aggravated assault. The police statement clarified that “Both men were not known to each other.”
According to Global News, Sagoo and his girlfriend were walking back to their vehicle after visiting a restaurant near the Alberta legislature when they witnessed the suspect urinating on their car. When Sagoo attempted to intervene and asked the suspect “what was going on, he was attacked.”
Specialist officers are handling the investigation into the fatal assault, which shocked the local community due to the severity of the violence resulting from an unprovoked minor confrontation.
