In a significant achievement for Indian cricket, fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for August 2025. This recognition comes for his persistent, match-winning performance in the Oval Test against England, which was the only match he played in the month. The Mohammed Siraj ICC Player of the Month award highlights his growing stature in international cricket.
Siraj’s outstanding spell saw him pick up a total of 9 wickets at an average of 21.11 across both innings. His efforts were crucial in helping India win the Test from a tricky position, ensuring the well-fought series ended in a 2-2 draw. For his stellar performance, which included a five-wicket haul in the second innings after bowling 46 overs in the match, Siraj was also named the Player of the Match.
The right-armer’s performance was not just a one-off. Siraj was the only Indian pacer to feature in all five Test matches against England, becoming the leading wicket-taker for the team with 23 wickets at an average of 32.43. His impressive form also earned him his career-best ranking in the ICC Men’s Test Bowler Rankings.
Siraj’s achievement earned him praise from across the cricket world, including from ICC Hall of Famer Sachin Tendulkar, who felt the pacer’s contributions are often underplayed. Accepting the award, Siraj said, “It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was a memorable series, and it was one of the most intense contests I have been a part of. I am proud that I could contribute with some important spells, especially in the decisive moments.” He also credited his teammates and support staff for their “constant encouragement and belief.”
